We spent a couple of hours in Dublin, but discovered that after a week on backroads and wandering smaller towns, we were ready to head out of the city. A review of the map and a tour book, we found a scenic route called ‘Military Road.’ Why not? We headed towards the Wicklow Mountains south of Dublin.
As I reflect on the drive, I began to understand that while Ireland is geographically a small country (about the size of Indiana), it is very diverse. The Wicklow Mountains delivered a new landscape filled with granite, mountains and pine trees.
We stopped at a layover within the national park area. The view was fantastic and made for some good photographs.
